Many of the well-known vineyards that have established a quality reputation are now welcoming a second generation of winemakers through the ranks.  A number of new vineyards have also been established in recent years, offering new varieties and blends that perfectly compliment the mix available in the area. There is certainly the ideal drop for any and every wine lover to be found.

The people who grow the grapes and make the wine also man many of the cellar doors you can visit around Heathcote. To visit these makers you will garner the full winemaking experience. 

The vineyards offer small, rustic tasting areas where you can look out onto the vines and talk about your favourite wine with the person who makes it. All the winemakers encourage people in the area who are keen to visit to give them a call, as they love to chat to visiting wine lovers.

Some of the wineries ask you to call ahead before visiting (in case they’re busy making the wine!) whilst others offer a lunch special or tasting plate to make your visit extra special.
