Description

***Cellar Door is temporarily closed***

Armstead is owned and operated by Emily and Tom Kinsman, who have a passion for wine and appetite for adventure.

Armstead was founded by Peter and Sharon Armstead in 2003, when our lakeside Shiraz vineyard was planted by hand with the help of good friends. Whilst waiting for the vines to grow, Peter sourced premium fruit across the Heathcote Wine Region, continually sourcing different varieties from premium growers to make his wines truly remarkable.

In March 2017, Emily and Tom "stumbled" across Armstead by boat, instantly falling in love with the unique lakeside setting and exceptional wines.

Emily and Tom's first vintage was 2018, adopting a fresh style whilst following the principles of minimal intervention. Using a combination of traditional and contemporary winemaking techniques, Emily and Tom aim to capture the elements of each unique terroir, so that every bottle is a true expression of that varietal. They want to show you how the climate, soil and terrain can influence the aromas of their wines, so that you can enjoy everything we love about the Heathcote Wine Region.

In late 2019, Emily and Tom launched their sister brand, ECK Wines, which embodies three things: People, Place and Play. These wines are inspired by a sense of Place, they’re best shared with your favourite People and they embody a sense of Playfulness. Therefore, whether it be a wine about the unique site on which the grapes are grown, a wine that captures the ideas of the people who created it and the techniques behind the wine or a fun and playful wine, Emily and Tom want the wine (grapes and vintage) to speak for itself. Minimal intervention, lo-fi and made with purpose, you won’t find two wines the same.
