Description

Farmer & The Scientist are husband and wife team Brian and Jess Dwyer who grow and nurture their handcrafted wines from budburst to bottle. Investments in hand processing, small-batch fermentation and simply allowing time on quality oak have created a range of wines synonymous with Heathcote character and quality.

Brian is the Farmer of the family with industry experience including a viticulture career started in the quality training grounds of Southcorp Wines. Currently, he manages a 193-acre vineyard in addition to Farmer & The Scientist's 20 acres of vines. Jess is the scientist of the two, with her degree in Science and further studies in teaching. She holds her own in the viticultural industry having gained experience working as a cellar hand and vineyard operator for many years. Currently, she serves as Mum to two littlies, General Manager of Farmer & The Scientist and is an active and founding member of the Heathcote Women In Wine.

These new kids on the block have created a buzz on the Heathcote wine scene since their first sold-out vintage in 2013 and collecting the odd medal or two including winning top place with their Tempranillo at the 2016 Victorian Wine Awards and securing Heathcote Shiraz Winery of The Year at the Melbourne International Wine Competition. The offering is a solid range of wines backed by simple, honest winemaking with a view to approachability that is gaining this young couple a growing following.
