Tellurian Wines
Food & Drink - Cellar Door & Wineries Heathcote
Description
Tellurian meaning ‘of the earth’ reflects our deep respect for the unique character of Heathcote’s famed red soils and a desire to purely express the essence of our vineyards in hand crafted wines.
From our vineyard, winery and cellar door site on Mount Camel range we pay homage to the region’s shiraz heritage alongside exploration of alternate varieties that thrive in Heathcote’s red soils, with warm days and cool nights. The aesthetic of Tellurian is minimalistic; the romance is inside the bottle. Balancing tradition with new thinking, Tellurian’s portfolio includes Shiraz, Grenache, Mouverdre, Nero D’Avola, Fiano, Riesling, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier.
Talented winemaker Tobias Ansted has worked in Heathcote and Bendigo for almost two decades, and combines this local knowledge with international winemaking experience with five vintages in France along with Romania and Argentina. He believes wines are made firstly in the vineyard, and adopts a winemaking style which strives for minimal intervention, allowing fruit to express the variety and the site. The result is handcrafted wines, which find the ideal balance between elegance and intensity.
The winery and cellar door was built in 2012, with a brief for minimalism and efficiency. The cellar door is now open on weekends throughout 2017.
