Octaroon sets out to challenge expectations about Indigenous identity in contemporary art.

Through video and photographic installations involving three Indigenous artists, this exhibition looks at expressions and representations of self that foreground aspects of identity other than Aboriginality. It is a move away from the dichotomous and polarising dynamics that often play out in exhibitions around Indigenous identity – confronting stereotypes and presumptions while opening up a space where freedom to express different aspects of identity is celebrated. Prepare to hear another side to the story.
