The Bendigo Stadium is hosting the Australian Snooker Goldfields Open.

The Australian Goldfields Open will be played in Bendigo from 29 June to 5 July 2015 providing an outstanding opportunity to see top sporting action in regional Victoria. 

The Australian Goldfields Open is the latest addition to Victoria’s award winning major events calendar of exciting, world-class events that is sure to thrill and entertain Victorians and visitors alike. 

The field will consist of the top 16 seeded players plus 16 qualifiers, with the lowest two
qualifiers playing two Australian Wild Card entrants.

Also among the field will be current world number one and 2014 World Champion, “the
Jester from Leicester”, Mark Selby; four-time World Champion John Higgins; another former World Champion, Shaun Murphy who was runner-up to Bingham in the final of the World Championship.

Along with current World Champion Stuart Bingham, former Goldfields Open champions Marco Fu and defending champion, Judd Trump are all vying for a second title.

The tournament will be played at the Bendigo Stadium, providing an outstanding opportunity to see top sporting action in regional Victoria, only three hours drive from Melbourne. The Australian Goldfields Open forms part of Victoria’s award winning major events calendar of exciting, world-class events, and showcases the historic Goldfields region to a global broadcast audience from over 60 countries including China and the United Kingdom. 

The week-long event draws large crowds, giving fans the chance to enjoy the unique
atmosphere that only snooker can provide, and see the world’s best exponents of the sport in the flesh.

This event really puts Bendigo on the map and raises the profile of regional Victoria on the world stage These events bring an international flavour to regional Victoria and are an opportunity for visitors to take advantage of Bendigo and the surrounding region’s tourist attractions during their visit.

We are delighted that the snooker event will be staged in Bendigo, Victoria supported by the Victorian Government. Victoria has an enviable reputation for staging World Class sporting events and it is therefore fitting that they will host the third World Snooker event in Australia.
