‘Step into paradise!’ Flamingo Park and Beyond is an exhibition celebrating the exuberant and sensational fashion and textile designs of Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson from the 1970s and 1980s, and including a component of their more recent work.
Kee and Jackson’s original style of alternative fashion was inspired by the Australian landscape, local flora and fauna and Indigenous culture. It was distinctively bold, bright and unconventional with a definitive ‘Oz’ twist and marked the emergence of a unique Australian look during the 1970s.
More recent creations and explorations by these two iconic Australian artist/designers are also included in this exhibition, beyond their earlier repertoire of Flamingo Park pieces. Kee’s new collection of dynamic knitwear and silk scarves are displayed alongside Jackson’s vibrant paintings and designs on silk.
